A yummy weekend...
A yummy weekend...
We went to this ice cream shop called "Island Creamery" at this building called "Serene's House" on Saturday evening. The ice cream was simply fantastic!! To me, it's much better than haagan daz or any other branded ice cream. The flavours were also exotic like nutella, horlicks, etc. I had nutella and fresh strawberry and the strawberry was really fresh, with bits of real strawberries still in it. And best of all, it wasn't too sweet but was very creamy, just the way I like it!! Still salivating at the thought of it!!
Then we went to check out Labrador park, as Piggy and Seaweed had planned to take photos on that day, but due to the bad weather, we adjourned to West Coast Park, before proceeding to the Hill Top, which was somewhere at the top of Jurong Bird Park. There is this nice Teppanyaki and Indonesian food there, which was highly recommended by my SIL. Although we went there mainly to check out the sunset (which was nowhere insight due to the earlier rain and haze), the aroma of the nice-smelling food was enough to make our stomachs rumble. And it didn't help that it was approaching dinner time. We must definitely go there and eat one day!!!
Nevertheless, we had a delicious and sumptuous dinner as well-- the famous chicken rice at Margaret Drive Hawker centre, which was newly renovated. Actually, just the nite before, we were there, eating the "zu chao" and it was absolutely fabulous!! Now, back to the chicken rice, this has to be the best chicken rice I have ever eaten in Singapore!!! With the huge chunks of tender chicken and the yummy chilli sauce, I simply couldn't resist downing more than 1 plate of chicken rice! The portions were huge, probably cuz we ordered 1 whole chicken to share among the 4 of us and we were really lucky --ours was the last order before they ran out of chicken!!!
On Sunday, I had the nice nasi lemak near our place, which I really love, but have been eating less of it recently upon the gynae's advice. But Piggy was very nice yesterday, he said "once in a while is ok"..haha, so I ate the really nice nasi lemak with the really nice chicken wing!
That's not the end of the food saga..we had the famous claypot rice at the Beach Rd Hawker Centre for dinner! Although we had to wait close to 40 minutes for the food, it was great! This is probably one of the rare places, which still sells claypot cooked by charcoal.
Following that, Piggy & I rushed to Mothercare at Marina to buy our baby's stroller (cuz it was the last day for the uob credit card 15% off promo). After much consideration, we finally bought the Quinny Zapp ($399) complete with a infant carrier ($228) with 15% discount. I would say it's quite a good buy, considering that Baby Hyperstore was carrying it at $459, without discount and their infant car seats start from $230! Plus point was that the service was very good. The lady serving us (I think she was a philippino) was very very patient, cuz we could not decide between the buzz and the zapp, but she demonstrated again and again and allowed us to try them out for ourselves. Although I wanted to get the buzz initially, cuz it has 3 position inclination, but decided against it in the end cuz of the bulk and weight (12.2 kg). The zapp was much lighter at 7 kg and it could be folded up to the size of a tennis racket!!
Next on our list would be the baby cot. I m thinking of getting the one from Baby's kingdom, but I wanna buy the pretty bedsheets from Mothercare. I m glad that Piggy shares the same sentiments as me regarding the bedsheets, cuz he said he wouldn't want to buy those bedsheets from the Baby Hyperstore or Baby's kingdom, cuz the designs didn't look very nice and the quality of the material looks mediocre. I mean, if we ourselves know how to look at threadcounts and buy quality bedsheets for ourselves, what more for a baby? Their skin is definitely more delicate and sensitive, hence the material would definitely have to be of a certain quality. I wonder if the size of the bedsheets out there would fit if I were to get the cot from the Baby's kingdom. Will have to check it out, maybe this wkend...= )
