Back to Work....My Many Thoughts
Update on my 5 days - 4 nights trip...hmm, where shall I start?
Activities:
1st day: Piggy & I went to this Chinese reataurant to eat 'Dim Sum'..not too bad, but the chilly sauce was kinda salty. Then, we went to the famous Dong Khoi St to look for my cheongsam and the traditional vietnamese costume, called the 'Ao-Dai' (pronounced Ou-Ngyeng'). I was really amazed at the number of shops selling silk and tailoring clothes and all can do it within 1 - 2 days! Finally settled on this shop called 'Saigon Impression' where I made a bright purple (more to the pink side kind of purple) halter cheongsam and a turquoise blue 'Ao-dai'. All for only USD $95! I probably can only tailor one cheongsam in Singapore for that price! Following that, we bought some nice lacquer plates for Piggy's mum at some neighbouring shops. The plates are all so beautiful and again, it's almost half of the price sold in Singapore! After all the shopping, we met Apple (who had spent her entire afternoon in the casino cuz she is supposedly on a winning streak of some kind) for dinner at this restaurant called "Li Bai" (yup, written the same way as the famous chinese poet.) Quite an eventful day for a start...
2nd day: Piggy woke up at 6 am to go to work, cuz he was knocking off early that day for the Christmas party we had that night at Legend Hotel. Apple brought me to Novotel for buffet breakfast. According to her, the food was supposedly good, and better than the one we had at the hotel we stayed the last time I came to Vietnam. But I thought it was so-so only and not exactly worth the money paid. Then we went to Omni to do up our nails for the Christmas party that night - the theme was "rainbow" and all guests were supposed to come decked in at least 7 different colours excluding black! Not exactly easy considering that most of my clothes were single coloured, but we managed to do it in the end!
My nails:

The party was very "happening" with a lot of "young punks"! Even the older people acted young. Haha.. Lots of exciting games and the ballroom was alive with laughter, screams and cheers! The party mood was certainly in the air...
After the end of the party, Piggy & I walked to the nearby Sheraton and stayed in the casino for a while. The good thing about the casino was you could have a full meal there FOC..haha..but we didn't end up eating a meal though we had a tiramisu!
3rd Day: Went to the gym with Apple but didn't stay for long cuz Apple was tired after a while, so we proceeded for massage. Think we only stayed for about 20 minutes in the gym, wouldn't really call that a workout, haha..After the session, the 4 of us had another sumptuous buffet 'dim sum' lunch in the hotel. This was followed by some walking about and again, we landed up in the Casino..was kinda sick of going to the casino again, so Piggy & I went up to the top floor of Sheraton for a drink, the view was almost breathtaking, at least one of the nicer places in Vietnam.. I also bought a pair of Vietnamese slippers for only USD$4 cuz my black heels finally gave way.. haha..That night, we again had dinner at this nice restaurant at New World Hotel...really felt full at the sight of food..cuz we have been eating like this almost everyday!
The nice view...
4th Day: That day was Piggy's birthday but poor Piggy had to go back to work early in the morning. Apple & I went to the office after lunch and hunged around till Piggy knocked off, reading newspapers and playing games. Kinda boring, but I didn't really want to spend my entire afternoon in a casino. I think going to the casino is ok occasionally, but not everyday, I feel like it's almost an addiction to be going everyday. After Piggy knocked off, we went for dinner at this place which looked sort of like a mini food-court and then went to the supermarket to shop. Then, we went to "walk walk" along this "shoe" street where there were 2 rows of shops all selling shoes! It was quite an eye-opener to know that Vietnam also has this kind of place. Following that, Piggy & I went back to cut his birthday cake! We had some dumplings too! Had a good time, tho it was just something simple. Sometimes, it's truely the small & simple things that really matter...
Piggy's birthday cake, specially chosen by me!!!

5th Day: Time to go back to Spore!! Yaay!! Had breakfast with Piggy at OJ's before proceeding to the Airport!!
My Thoughts:
Hmm..I have mixed feelings about the prospects of going to stay in Vietnam. I dun want to waste my life doing nothing and going to the casino everyday. It's almost like throwing my education into the rubbish bin and letting my mind waste away everyday. Communication there is also a major problem cuz most of them cannot speak English or Chinese and even those who can speak can hardly understand you on the phone! The place is not exactly the cleanest or most hygienic place too, with all the exhaust fumes from the numerous motorbikes, you would almost feel like you are living in a polluted land! I guess a holiday is all right but staying on a long-term basis just doesn't seem too appealing to me!
Ya, I guess Piggy is right in saying that "We have a choice how we want to live our lives". He said I could always pick up a new language, e.g. Vietnamese or French which I probably would, cuz the very thought of wasting my time doing practically nothing everyday really puts me off. Yet, I want to be with Piggy, cuz it's been tough staying apart these past months and I really missed him dearly..
Sometimes, I think it's probably better for him to be back but yet I know this is totally not possible in the short- run. Everything in Singapore is so much better, including education, standard of living and medical facilities. I can't imagine if I were to get pregnant there, I think medical advancement there is way beyond what Singapore has to offer. I can't imagine how I could possibly go for monthly medical checkups there if I m pregant? Though there is distilled water for drinking, it's still nothing like Singapore, where we have clean water from the tap and a pollution-controlled environment outside. Over there, the traffic is terrible, you would almost get a heart attack if you were there for the 1st time and came from a country where traffic is orderly on the roads!
Guess I m really apprehensive about quitting my job and moving over to Vietnam although I really want to give Piggy all the support and encouragement he could possibly have. To me, it's a big decision, cuz it means giving up everything here for something there, which is so intangible and uncertain at this moment, in the sense that I dunno and can't imagine what I will be doing over there. Being there for a few days while Piggy was working sort of gave me a sense of what is to be expected when I move over there. Guess I m afraid that I will end up living the kind of life Apple lives. Not that she has a bad life or anything, but I just feel that she is wasting her life away and I dun want to do that. And probably because of the "sedentariness" of her life, she gets upset & moody sometimes. I don't want to end up grumpy & disgruntled just because of the way life is over there.
Guess I m afraid that it is not the best decision to just give up my job here cuz although it's not the most fantastic job, at least it's secure - I have a decent income, decent bonuses, generally nice colleagues and boss and the career prospects here still seem not too dim for me. Also going over there would mean only a single income and I m worried about Piggy working so hard, like almost 7 days a week. I wonder if it's worth it, if it's really going to give us a better life? I mean if it isn't, why bother to make and adapt to all the changes? We might as well just stay in Singapore, have decent jobs and lead a decent life, with decent time to spend with our loved ones. Perhaps I m wrong, but after weighing all the pros and cons, it just seems that everything is so much better over here.

Old times, Old Friends..
Feeling kinda brain-dead in the office. Just feel like going home to rest. Have yet to collect my invite cards tho it's supposed to be early this week. Tmw is already mid-week. I really hope the invite cards are error-free. Tho I had proof-read it before they sent for printing, you never know how these printers work!

Planning for our BIG Day!!
Have also gotten our "ROM" photos after a really long wait! But the photographer left out some photos in the CD-rom and those happened to be the nicer of the lot, so abit disappointed! Now, have to wait for him to burn me a new CD and he seems to always be taking ages to respond and get back to me!
Upcoming stuff:
1) Finalise invites, plan Guest List & arrange them into tables
2) Arrange for food tasting (tentatively on 4 Jan 06)
3) Go for 1st fitting (on 17 Dec 06)
4) Buy accessories for gowns (cuz I heard that EB's accessories are pathetic!)
5) Plan the team of brothers, sisters, helpers, emcees, drivers, etc.
6) Think of ideas for Video & put it into action! (Have to finalise everything by end Dec so that we can start shooting when piggy is back)
7) Photoshoot (buy ties for piggy, think of props, etc)
8) Think of layout if I want the collage album
etc, etc..
And piggy won't be coming back this week as earlier planned, cuz the management decided they would go to taipei instead, so he would be leaving for taipei today..sobsob..but I will see him soon on 23 Dec..yaay!! Miss my piggy, he has been working so hard nowadays, really worried about him sometimes, all by himself..but maybe he has lost some weight!! haha..just nice for our photoshoot!!

Class 95..my Favourite Radio Station
This morning, Glenn and FD were talking about "Pigeons", the one type of animal I hate most in this world!!! Yes, birds!!! One of them was saying that "St Mark's Square" in Venice had many pigeons, infact "lots and lots and lots" of them, flying around and they will be more than happy to perch on your heads and shoulders if you have pigeon feed in your hand!! YUCKS!!! The funny part was when Glen warned Singaporeans that it isn't nice to have many pigeons hovering over your heads and perching all over you cuz it's actually very unhygienic!! So stop imagining that you are "Snow White" with all the birds flying to you and around you!! Haha..I thought that was funny cuz I never ever liked the idea of birds hovering over me and standing on my head or shoulders or hands or whatever, I dun even want to go near them if I can help it!!! And that's the reason why I hardly ever go to Dover for lunch, to think that the number of pigeons in Dover is small compared to those in St Mark's Square. I can almost faint at the number of restless pigeons in Dover sometimes!!! So I m actually glad in a way that we are not going to Venice for honeymoon but Phuket. I m quite sure there aren't many birds in Phuket, just like in Vietnam. When I was there, I hardly saw a bird!!! So amazing!
And yesterday, both of them were talking about this new vibrating condom and how Glenn was hunting high and low for this new product at the Metro Paragon Guardian Pharmacy but without any sucess. So in the end, he left empty-handed as he was too embarrassed to ask the sales person where it was placed! Then when he proceeded to the petrol station to pump his petrol, he actually saw all kinds of IT at the counter as he was going to make payment for his petrol. So he was happily going to take one from the counter when the cashier, a sweet, young, innocent girl with braces smiled at him, making feel so ashamed of himself. So in the end, he didn't buy it too..haha..
I really enjoy listening to them talk 'crap' in the mornings, cuz it really brightens my day and lightens my mood as I make my way to the dreary office...

Our Honeymoon Destination

We have finally settled on our honeymoon, almost anyway... Cuz we have booked the air tics (from Tiger Airways which is having an awesome 50% off promotion now) and the accomodation for one of the places we are going to stay in!
We will be staying for two nights at this beautiful resort, called "The Racha"(http://www.theracha.com), located off Phuket followed by another two nights in Phuket itself, at this seaview resort called "Novotel" (http://www.novotelphuket.com), which was not affected by the Tsunamis at all last yr cuz it's located on very high land. Feel quite happy with our deal. Though our accomodation is quite expensive, I think the beautiful scenary will be worth it. After all, we have saved on our air tics, cuz we feel that it's only a two-hr ride anyway. Hope the resorts can really create the romantic mood and feel, heehee..
Some pics of "The Racha" Resort..

A breakdown of the cost of our honeymoon:
1) Our Air tics: $239 (inclusive of taxes, 2-way for 2 persons)
2) 3 days, 2 nites accomodation at The Racha, Honeymoon package: $1292
3) 3 days, 2 nites accomodation at Novotel, Romantic Escape Package: $751
So total = $2282
and the good thing is that the packages come with many perks, such as daily breakfast, romantic dinner/ lunch and even massage!!
Sea view from the Novotel...

My Poodle Pink Nails!

No, I m not trying to be "funny", the colour is really called "Poodle pink". I couldn't really believe it when I picked up the nail polish bottle and read the name on it too! To think that just before that, Sronz, who was with me to do pedicure, actually said that the colour was so "poodie-like"! So you can imagine how funny it was for us when I actually found that it sounded so similar to Poodie!! Anyway, on Saturday, I also saw this other nail colour, which was very nice and very suitable for my evening gown, which is bright pink. It's called "Holy Pink Pagoda", funny sounding name but the colour is nice so I took note of it so that I can use it for my photoshoot in Jan....
