$148,000 Watch???!!!
$148,000 Watch???!!!
During dinner just now, my BIL jokingly asked my PILs to give him $100K cuz he said A asked him to buy her a watch which costs $148K!!! Then A was kinda shocked and embarrassed and quickly said something like "No lah, I didn't say I want, you make it sound as though I want to buy it" and I think she didn't seem too happy after that although she tried to behave normally. I was thinking, if you never say you wanted my BIL to buy for you, he wouldn't have joked about something like this too. Then, as if to prove her innocence, she told my MIL that the book which she saw the watch in, was bought by my BIL and not her. Luckily for her, Piggy was in the toilet. Otherwise, you can be sure, Piggy will say something like "Wow, $100K, can renovate my whole house, fully fitted with lights, furniture and fittings and maybe still got some money left!"
Really cannot stand people like this, like it then say lah, try so hard to preserve your image for what? If you are like this, sooner or later, people will also know what. Try so hard to pretend that you dun smoke when you smoke everyday in Vietnam? Guess it must be a torture for her to be constantly in fear of people finding out that she smokes. Scared that Piggy knows? Which in fact, Piggy does, but he doesn't care a damn! Although we dun really like her, we are not so despicable as to bad mouth her..just dun everytime infront of me, pretend to be so thrifty and down to earth, cuz you obviously are not! Everytime still tell me that my BIL spends alot and luckily got her to help him "shen3 chi1 jian3 yong4"!!! Pui!!! I really feel like throwing up, hearing her say this kind of thing about herself. No doubt, my BIL spends alot but well, he is spending his OWN money. She should learn to appreciate what she has and quit comparing herself to her other china friends, who have bfs to buy them lots of LV bags, etc. cuz she is considered to be living quite a good life liao, compared to alot of Singapore gals her age. And this is also taking into consideration the fact that she didnt have much education and cannot work to support herself. So to have someone who is willing to provide for all your needs, food, lodgings and money to spend, without needing you to work is already quite a luxury in itself.
And as I always say, if you choose to compare yourself to those who are better off, you will always seem much worse off, especially if you are the type who dunno how to appreciate what you have. But if you were to compare yourself to to those who are just normal people, you will feel very blessed indeed. Maybe she just doesn't know the value of money..which is really surprising, considering a person, who has been through a hard life and knows what it's like to have to earn money to support herself before.
Then some time recently, A suddenly wanted to learn english and learn driving, which she was never interested in before. Guess that must be after the big quarrel she had with my BIL and she was desperately trying to make amends in fear of my BIL dumping her for someone else. But anyway, she couldn't learn cuz she is on a tourist visa. Then when they patched up, she happily told me that my BIL promised to buy her a beetle if she learnt to drive. Then I was thinking, you think beetle very cheap, is it? Even my SIL, who has learnt to drive for so long, also said if she has a car to drive, she would be happy already. Then lately, she saw the brochure for this condo near our place, and she asked Piggy to talk to my BIL to ask him to buy the place. Wah lau, you are the one who likes the place, ask Piggy to talk to my BIL for what?!!! Then Piggy told her "I dun wanna be bad guy, if you want, you tell my brother yourself. Later, he thinks that his older brother ask him to spend money unnecessarily".
Another thing I cannot stand is the fact that she kept saying to me when I was in Vietnam last time: "Wow, you have alot of clothes and bags huh?" And as if to make a comparison, she said she didn't have much clothes. Wah lau, why do you wanna compare? Most of the things that I have, I bought with my own hard-earned money, not with other people's money. And anyway, I dun buy branded clothes. So although she has less clothes, the amount of money she had spent on them is probably enough to buy my whole wardrobe and more. And if you talk about bags, her one $1400 handbag alone is enough to buy all my bags, cuz my most expensive bag is only over $100 and I do buy bags which cost $10 or $20 if I like them. Besides, I work, so I feel justified in having a variety of bags to suit my needs.
Then that time, she somemore said she wanted to learn things, and my MIL suggested that she could learn facial, manicure and pedicure and could perhaps start her own business next time. I was thinking, this type of person only likes to be served, pampered and have a good life, you think she wants to serve people meh?
Somemore, A offered to take care of my baby when I have one next time. Piggy and I are strongly against it man, later our children grow up to be like her, then siao liao!! We would rather let our PILs or SIL take care. At least, we can be sure that our future children will be in good hands.
Anyway, hadn't meant to write so much, but sometimes talking about certain things just trigger you to think about other related things and one thing follows the next and before you know it, you have typed one whole long entry.
